Healthy meals and happy children

At Kingfisher Hall Academy, we believe that healthy food plays an important role in helping children learn well and feel their best. A balanced lunch supports concentration, energy and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day. When children eat well, they are better able to focus in lessons, stay active and develop strong habits for life.

Our meals are carefully planned each day to provide nutritious and enjoyable food that children look forward to. We offer a range of options including hot meals, lighter choices and fresh fruit and vegetables. Menus are designed to support children’s growth while also making lunchtime a positive and social part of the day.

We understand that families have different cultural and dietary needs, and we make sure that our provision reflects this. Halal and vegetarian options are available, and there is always a suitable choice for every child. Our aim is simple – to ensure that every child feels happy, included and ready to learn.

A clear three-week menu cycle

Our lunches follow a simple three-week cycle.
Week 1 of term is Menu 1, Week 2 is Menu 2 and Week 3 is Menu 3. After Week 3, the cycle returns to Week 1.

This approach makes it easy for families to know what their child will be eating. We regularly share the latest menu with parents and carers so that everyone can plan ahead with confidence.

A calm and positive lunchtime

Lunchtime is an important part of the school day. Children eat together in a calm and friendly dining hall, with staff present to support good manners and positive behaviour.

Eating together helps children develop social skills, try new foods and build confidence. We want lunchtime to feel safe, respectful and enjoyable for everyone.

Free school meals

All children in Years 1 to 6 currently receive free school meals, funded by the Mayor of London. However, some families may still be entitled to Free School Meals through a full application.

We strongly encourage parents and carers to apply if they think they may be eligible. If your child qualifies, the school receives additional government funding which helps us provide extra support, resources and opportunities. Your child will continue to receive free meals, and the school will receive valuable additional funding.

Applying is simple and confidential. Check your eligibility and apply for Free School Meals
